Chapter 1 - Childhood

Dylan was born and raised in a very wealthy family. His mother owns a luxury clothing brand and his father a construction company. He was homeschooled for the first few years by private tutors until his parents decided that public school was necessary for socialization. During his middle school years, his "friends" often trespassed closed areas and fiddling with abandoned octarian machines, often dragging Dylan unwillingly along. Dylan acted as a killjoy at first by being reasonably concerned about getting into trouble, but in the end he always gave in, due to his lack of social skills and the need to belong to a social group. Experimenting with these machines was what awakened Dylans interest in technology. While his friends played around with the scraps, Dylan took the machines apart and analyzed their structure. His desire for knowledge and stereotypical look with his glasses and braces in his childhood years quickly earned him the title of “nerd”, which he greatly despised as it was used as an insult against him. From a young age his parents introduced him their careers so that he can earn verified qualifications as a drafter and fashion designer until later on he decided his own career path being that of a programmer. His parents managed to enroll him into a private computer science university where he would earn his master's degree in. He began to be interested in music after discovering that he had a great singing voice when he joined a choir. He followed his newly discovered passion vaguely, as to not let it get in the way of his studies, following a more stable career path. He was a straight A student in uni and very popular among the girls for his attractiveness and the boys for his great intellect and willingness to help but he never cared about neither and was happy when the lectures were over and he can head home. Despite appearing to be popular, he was very quiet and introverted, so the friend group he felt the safest and most understood in were the nerdy outsiders.

Chapter 2 - The Awakening of a Passion

During his university times, he continued seeking out octarian machines in closed areas to analyze their design and programs with more advanced tools. On one unfortunate day though, he got caught by Octolings patrolling the area. They transported him via boat back to their mane base and imprisoned him to later question him about his suspicious activities on their machines, fearing that he may have tampered with them. Dylan noticed on the way to the octarian base how strange it was to meet Octolings on the surface and travel through the sea to instead of going underground. He waited a while alone until someone was sent to confront him about his doings. And the person was none other than Finn. Dylan attempted to explain himself and convince Finn that this was all a misunderstanding but Finn wouldn’t budge, not only because of the lack of trust for Inklings but also because of a language barrier, as Finn’s Inkling was not great.

After an unsuccessful communication, Finn resorted to calling for backup and guarded Dylan until a suitable soldier with decent Inkling skill was found to replace him. This wait quickly led to boredom for Dylan inside his empty prison cell, so he started singing. That quickly got Finns attention, never having heard something like that in his life, so he questioned Dylan about it. Dylan confused at first explained the concept of music to him, in distraught that this Octoling has never even heard of music before and taught him how easy it is to make a simple melody by clapping and stomping. Dylan was thrilled seeing a serious solider start to smile and joy-jumping from just some singing. He noticed the shift in tone from Finn and was bewildered that this was what it took for him to be released out of prison. Finn helped him escape the facility, which from the way he secretely dragged Dylan along worried him that what the Ocotling soldier was doing would get him into trouble. This situation could have ended far worse for Dylan, but in his head he could only think of the joy music brought to someone.

As days passed, unable to forget this event, Dylan’s love for music grew Knowing that one person, who has never heard music before enjoyed his music so much that it moved them, motivated Dylan greatly to keep creating art. He began to use his school breaks and free time more and more with creating melodies in his music software. The jocks in his class often bullied him for it, labelling it as a hobby that will never bring him financial success and predicitng that he will end up on the streets collecting donations as a street musician.

Chapter 3 - Changing Someones Life

One day, Dylan was being bullied by the jocks again, stealing his laptop from his lap while he was working in his music software. Luckily on that day though, a strange Inkling wearing a bag on his head came to his aid and chased the bullies away. At first Dylan was thankful for his mysterious savior it was revealed to be none other than that Ocotling soldier whom he introduced music to. Dylan, in panic, quickly ran off to hide Finn from the university, as the town he was living in had no Octolings roaming around and therefore worried that he may cause unwanted attention. Dylan was surprised but also moved when Finn explained in his broken Inkling that meeting him changed his life so much that he escaped his the octarians to meet him again and hopefully pursue a life of music.

Desiring to improve an ex soldiers live for the better, Dylan agreed to take Finn under his wing. He was fortunate that his dorm was more like a full apartment than just one room he had to share with someone else, so he had room to accomondate Finn. After a quick house tour, unsurprinsgly the music room stood out to Finn the most. Dylan gave Finn some music lessons to each instrument and allowed him to experiment around with them all and his music software while he was on campus attending his lectures. He also provided Finn with a lot of books and online courses to study Inkling which would be important if he wants to continue his life here. Dylan appreciated that Finn would keep his dorm clean and provide him a freshly cooked meal when he came back from university, clearly an act of gratitude from Finn. He regularly checked up on Finn's Inkling and tutored him when he needed help. Finn would often pester Dylan to make music together when he was busy studying, like a child trying to convince a parent to go play outside with them after a long day of work.

Both of them would fantasize about an utopia where Inklings and Octolings can live in peace and simply enjoy music. After Dylan was finished with his final exams and received his degree in computer science, both him and Finn decided to make their plans for an utopia come true. Dylan convinced his parents that his passion for music may save more Octolings like Finn and wished to follow this path. After telling his story on how he met Finn, he received confirmation from both of his parents that his future goals were noble. His mother offered an island she received as a gift from one of her clients and his father offered him a team, resourses and machinery large enough to build a city. Dylans private savings account he had since birth would cover a lot of the finances required to build the utopia he desires. Theiy officially created their band titled “Aquaphobia” started building their own metropolis called "Thalassis" accessible with an underwater metro they built. Later on they partnered with the deepsea metro that requires a secret pass to reach Thalassis.

Chapter 4 - Gargantuan Rescue Mission

Thalassis was officially built but had no residents. Inklings and other marine life were easy to convince through an advertising campaign, so their focus was on the Octolings from Finn's place of birth. They began to draft plans on how to rescue the Octolings and introduce them into their newly build utopia. Their plan was to spread the word to the Octoling base that a certain date will be their chance to escape, hack ships, security systems and the shock collars Ocotling wear that track their location and dissallow them to go out of bounds to make an escape to those who reach the docks without any of the officials noticing possible. Through Dylans hacking skills, he was able to remove the ship’s restriction programming and tracking so they have free control of the ships and all security and observation systems will at first become unstable and shut off completely temporarily. In case of emergency, him and Finn designed and built a special kind of mech that will deliver additonal fire power if a more violent approach is needed.

On the day of the escape, a lot of Octolings received and spread the message to the comrades they trusted that wouldn't snitch to the higher up and headed to the docks that night. Just before it was thought that the mission had been carried out successfully without anyone being detected, the last quarter of refugees were caught by the patrolling night guards and the emergency plan had to be deployed. In the end, thousands of Octolings that resided in the base managed to escape and move to Thalassis. Dylan had to reassure Finn, who was concerned that Octolings may not get along with Inklings, Inklings won’t care about them being a different species at all and will get along just fine. Dylan and Finn officially held their first concert as Aquaphobia on their own island wishing that song and dance will unite and bring peace to the 2 species that were originally raised to be enemies.

Today, Dylan hosts Thalassis' News along with Finn, where they report the news about Thalassis and announce their own splatfests. Outside of news reporting they livestream video games, host a podcast and post any form of content they feel like their social media channel.

When not working, Dylan occuppies himself with any of his artistic hobbies or with the drafting Finns ideas for machines to life. With his band member Finn, they occasionally go on secretive missions to other Octarian facilities they've tracked down in hopes to save even more Octolings from their fate. For these rescue missions, the built mechs have often proved to be very useful.
